For Business Sellers

I saw an ad the other day on Craig’s List.  The title was: Sell My Business In Savannah.  I clicked on the ad to see what it was all about.  I found a brief description of some local bakery that was for sale.  There was very little information there.  Just a first name of the owner and an email address.  No specifics on the bakery, where it was, why they were selling, what the price was.

I thought to myself, if you’re selling a business in Savannah, this is certainly not the best way to go about it from both the seller and the potential buyer perspective.  Why? I can think of several reasons right off the top of my head.

For starters, there is the credibility factor.  How many people looking to buy a business in the Savannah area are going to respond to an ad like this?  Why is there so little information…are you hiding something?  Why are you selling on your own, rather than through a professional?

On the seller’s end, this bakery owner is doing himself a real disservice.  In addition to the fact that the ad came across unprofessional, he’s not reaching the targeted audience he needs to in order to maximize the potential for a sale.  Sure, a few serious buyers might see his Selling My Business In Savannah ad, but not nearly as many that would if he had placed his ad in the right place.

Which brings me to the point of this article.  If you are selling a business in Savannah, you probably won’t have much luck going it alone.  Just like the bakery owner, you are likely to make many mistakes along the way.

Think about it…let’s say you were considering selling your business…do you know how much it is worth?  How do you find qualified buyers?  What about financing?  How do you establish confidentiality?  Do you have to hold a note?

If you’re able to answer all of these questions confidently, then perhaps you can do it alone.  But chances are you don’t have the answers to all of them, or even some of them.  That’s where a business broker comes in.

An experienced business broker can answer all of these questions for you, and put your business in front of thousands of qualified buyers.  They have access to resources and tools that you can’t access on your own, and can make a sale happen fast at a price that works for you.

If you’re selling a business in Savannah, a good bet is to go with Best Business Brokers, local people with the edge and the method to find you a buyer, no matter what industry you are in.
